Wow…interesting question….I’ll have to research this one!! Having been a truck driver and having been in every major city, I know there are many famous streets. Route 66 is probably the most famous highway. As far as streets are concerned…..well, there are so many famous ones….Bourbon St., Sunset Strip, goodness, I can’t get on that rollll, I’d be here all night…super question!!

  7. dual_reality Says:

    I would guess…either Bourbon st.–New Orleans–for their mardi gras
Or Fremont st.-Las Vegas.—for it’s portrayal in movies for years.

  8. gettin'real Says:

1600 Pennsylvania Ave. At least that seems to be the one that most people know by heart.

  9. Jay Says:

  10. jacqueline6001 Says:

    Lombard Street in San Francisco

  11. Baco Says:

Lombard St is one of the most photographed, sketched, and painted street in the U.S. Route 66 was a good guess, but it is an interstate highway!

  12. The Older Woman Says:

I’d also have to go w/Bourbon Street. When you think parties and drunks, you think Bourbon St. When you think crime and obsenities you think Bourbon St. Mardi Gras? Still Bourbon. Floods, hurricanes, government assistance? New Orleans, which leads to thoughts of Bourbon St. Jazz, musicians, nudie bars, once again Bourbon St. Seems like it just covers all aspects of life, doesn’t it?

  13. ccfromnj Says:

    Wall Street, New York City.
Not only is it a suprisingly small street, you cant even drive a car down it, Wall Street, more than anything, represents financial and economic power. To Americans, Wall Street can sometimes represent elitism and power politics and cut-throat capitalism, but it also stirs feelings of pride about the market economy. Wall Street, despite the inevitable corruption, became the symbol of a country and economic system that many Americans see as having developed not through colonialism and plunder, but through trade, capitalism, and innovation.

  14. wvucountryroads Says:

    Pennsylvania Avenue in DC
    Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills

  15. pwithers12 Says:

not sure, but some good choices
    Wall Street
    Route 66
    Sunset Boulavard
Main St- ok there are a lot of main streets
    ” The Strip” in Vegas
    Burben St.- NEW ORLEANS

  16. Thomas S Says:

Wall St. It does seem like every town has a Broadway though. Except our town and the main street is Shamrock Street, what else for an Irish community.

  17. kitkat Says:

    i’m going with wall street

  18. kbc10 Says:

Street? Broadway, in NYC. Because of the theater and it just kind of became shorthand for the city, for fame, for making it big.
I don’t have stats but if you went and googled all the references in, for example, songs, I will bet you would find more references to Broadway than to even Wall Street.

    Road? the old Route 66.
